A Few Words From Bode
It hasn’t been easy heeding my true calling of being an artist, a creative and a maker. Unfortunately, I learned early on that creatives can’t make a living. It’s been a journey to unlearn that false belief—but a journey worth taking.
I believe I am here to find those jewels buried deep within me, that have always been there, and use those jewels to be a light in this world and leave this place better than I found it. And leave people I encounter better than I found them. The best way to do that is to honor who I truly am and continue to serve my creative desires—be as authentic and whole as I conceivably can, so that I can serve others, be it my family, my friends or strangers, from the best place possible. You can’t pour from an empty cup, I always say!
As an artist, I believe we creatives don't just paint pictures or make clothes or write songs or build objects, etc. We are dedicated, through courage and heart, to honor and share our souls through our art, no matter what form or shape that may take.
I wouldn't be where I am today without the incredible love and support of my family and friends. My family is always encouraging me on my peculiar, circuitous path of adventure and creativity. I would say that my life is the epitome of the phrase "Life is a journey, not a destination."
My family seems to have accepted that I am a seeker of the answers to life's mysterious questions. I have a fervor for living a life full of adventure and creativity.
If I'm ever at home visiting, my mom will walk by the yard early, before sunrise, noticing that I am doing a headstand and just chuckle and say, "Oh Brooke is doing her morning headstands!" I am an unusual human being and they love me for it. And for that, I am forever grateful.
